Machine Learning Engineer - PyTorch, Pandas, and AWS

While best known for our podcast, Data Skeptic is a boutique consulting company that assists small and medium enterprise companies leverage cutting edge machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions in their production environments. Our clients are in industries such as satellite communication, digital video advertising, and legal document analysis.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands on developer who can implement established designs in end-to-end projects. You'll work very closely under a technical mentor. You'll have 1-2 meetings per week maximum and otherwise be dedicated to data exploration, modeling, and implementation. We are a small team that takes raw data and transforms it into a fully automated, CI/CD production-grade deliverables. Everyone wears every hat.

Responsibilities:

  • Through reading and thoughtful data exploration, develop domain understanding of new industries from raw data provided to you.
  • Propose and implement feature engineering techniques that are statistically relevant and/or domain specific.
  • Ensure our ML pipeline is optimized to produce the best solutions for our clients in a transparent, auditable, and automated process.
  • Use tools like Terraform to manage cloud infrastructure.
  • Propose novel ideas for how to leverage ML on industry datasets.

Requirements:

Must have experience.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in PyTorch and Pandas for building and training machine learning models.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Elastic Container Service.
  • Knowledge of other machine learning frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or XGBoost.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to tackle complex machine learning challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

Nice to have experience.

  • Solid understanding of deep learning algorithms, neural networks, and related concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, such as S3, EC2, Lambda, and SageMaker for model deployment and management.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
