Darts Library for Time Series

Julien Herzen, PhD graduate from EPFL in Switzerland, comes on today to talk about his work with Unit 8 and the development of the Python Library: Darts.

Julien Herzen: I am an engineering lead at Isomorphic Labs, a sister company to Google DeepMind. We research and develop advances such as AlphaFold to accelerate and improve drug discovery using computational and AI-first methods. Previously I was lead data scientist at Unit8, where I helped scale data engineering, data science, and machine learning across industry clients. I was a part of Unit8's leadership team as the company grew from 6 to 110 people and was listed by the Financial Times among the fastest-growing Swiss companies in 2022. Earlier roles include lead data scientist at Swisscom, a PhD candidate at EPFL, and research positions in Silicon Valley. I enjoy designing machine learning models and systems and building production-grade software. My PhD thesis was nominated for the EPFL Patrick Denantes Memorial Prize; I have authored several academic papers (including award-winning work) and hold a few patents.
